Venice's Secret Gardens and Hidden Treasures
With the inestimable Robin Lane Fox as our guide, we will explore the lesser-known corners of Venice, avoiding the crowds. As well as some of the city's finest works of art in churches and palaces, we will focus on gardens.
These will include the newly restored gardens behind Palladio's church of the Redentore on the island of the Giudecca, the extensive parterre gardens on San Giorgio Maggiore, the Giardini Reali close to St Mark's Basilica and a number of private gardens.
We will spend a day outside Venice, taking our private boat across the lagoon to see Palladio's Villa La Malcontenta and the magnificent Villa Pisani at Stra frescoed by Tiepolo.
This is not a tour for those who wish to see the main sites but we are happy to arrange a extra day or two, with an excellent local guide, at either the beginning or end of our stay for anyone wishing to visit St Mark's or the Doge's Palace.
Hotel: Palazzo Nani Mocenigo feels like a wonderful discovery. On a quiet canal on the Dorsoduro, close to the Zattere, this elegant Gothic palace is now a five-star hotel with a charming garden, very attentive staff and beautifully decorated rooms.
Cost: £5,750 This includes five nights bed and breakfast, all lunches and two dinners, all visits, lectures and coach and boat trips. We reserve the right to adjust the price should there be a significant alteration in the rate of the exchange. Please note that the cost of air travel is not included
Single Occupancy: There will be a supplement of £600 for single occupancy of a double room.

Insurance: Travel insurance is an essential requirement if you are taking a tour.
