Roman Palaces and Gardens
The Eternal City is the ultimate palimpsest, offering an unbelievable wealth of artistic experiences, so who better than the brilliant polymath Robin Lane Fox to be our guide. Robin is an authority on ancient history and art and also a famed garden writer.
We will explore the finest buildings and sculpture of Ancient Rome including the Pantheon and Capitoline Hill. We will delve into the Baroque world through the altarpieces of Caravaggio, still in the chapels for which they were painted, and the miraculous sculpture of Bernini in the Galleria Borghese. We will visit spectacular gardens outside Rome including the famous Renaissance gardens of Villa Lante and Caprarola and the romantic garden at Ninfa. Our tour will include visits to some superb private villas and palaces which have been in the same families for centuries and where we will dine with the owners. Our grand finale will be an evening visit to the Sistine Chapel when it is closed to the public.
Cost: £4,650. This includes shared accommodation in a Deluxe double room, Half Board plus two dinners, all visits, lectures and coach trips. We reserve the right to adjust the price should there be a significant alteration in the rate of the exchange. Please note that the cost of air travel is not included.
Hotel: Of all Rocco Forte's luxurious five star hotels, Hotel De La Ville is undoubtedly the most chic. The situation at the top of the Spanish Steps, a rooftop bar with stunning views and fabulous interior decoration throughout make it the most perfect and spoiling place to stay in Rome.
Single Rooms: There will be a supplement of £890 for single occupancy of a Superior double room.
